After finishing this drawing of an old mill in the town of Elora, I realized that getting sunshine into a black and white drawing isn’t that hard. Since I use a willow charcoal most of my marks are quite dark if left untouched so any white will immediately show up.
This drawing is done on mixed media paper that is very white. To get the same effect on MI-Teinte colored paper just means using a white chalk, charcoal or pastel to make the highlights.
What I really like about using willow charcoal is that the finished work can resemble a vivid black and white photograph.
